Summary
Additions and corrections to the staphylinid fauna of Berlin and Brandenburg (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae) II.
Recent records of more than 150 species of Staphylinidae from Berlin and Brandenburg are presented, including six
new records from the Berlin/Brandenburg region (Amischa forcipata MULSANT & REY, 1873; Atheta balcanicola
SCHEERPELTZ, 1968; Atheta kerstensi BENICK, 1968; Atheta setigera (SHARP, 1869); Euconnus campestris
(SCHAUFUSS, 1866) and Scaphisoma boreale LUNDBLAT, 1952). The presence of three previously doubtfully
recorded species (Alevonota rufotestacea (KRAATZ, 1856); Hydrosmecta linkei (G. BENICK, 1969) and
Mycetoporus reichei (PANDELLÉ, 1869)) is confirmed, and 36 species are recorded for the first time since 2000.
Based on a study of type material, the following new synonymy is established: Hydrosmecta subtilissima (KRAATZ, 1854)
= H. septentrionum (G. BENICK, 1969) syn. nov. A lectotype is designated for Homalota subtilissima KRAATZ, 1854.
Among the 1092 species of Staphylinidae reported from Berlin and Brandenburg, 871 species are confirmed by records
since 2000, 155 species were recorded between 1951 and 1999, 59 species between 1900 and 1950, five species
before 1900, and two species without a date. The presence of 12 additional species must be considered doubtful.
The bibliography on the Staphylinidae of Berlin and Brandenburg (previously 434 entries) is supplemented by
eight additional papers. Lists of collectors and collection depositories are updated. Complete species lists are
presented for two excursions of the "Fachgruppe Entomologie Berlin" to the Spreewald (2012) and the Uckermark area (2013).
